Can you? Did you ask? In today’s world technology seem to be advancing way more than we think. It seems that with video cameras as cheap as $15 everyone can afford one. Pretty much every parking lot today has some kind of security camera recording 24 hours a per day. The chances of being able to see your car accident on tape are that bad.
If your accident is on the middle of nowhere, then forget about it, but if the accident is on the middle of the city, try to identify the closest parking lots and business. It is very possible that they have a copy of the tape showing exactly what happened. Some places actually sell you the tape (your insurance company would have to pay for this). Must adjusters never bother to find a tape of the accident so make sure you ask them to.
A video can clear you out of any suspicion of wrong doing. Remember, you will not get a fair investigation unless you push the insurance company. I know that this should not be case, but in reality you have to prove your innocence.
