How does an adjuster evaluate an injury?
An injury claim is evaluated in different ways by different insurance companies. The common theme however is that insurance adjusters will be looking to buy your claim for less than what a jury would award you.
They will only look at the injury to find evidence that would add or subtract value in a court of law. The are not looking at the injury to see how much pain you were or what kind of medications you took (they will take that into account if those items would persuade a jury).
The adjuster will center the evaluation in the treatment calendar. How long did it take your injury to be back to pre accident condition? The longer the more value that they would add to the claim. However, they will compare your injury to “other similar” injuries in your local area to see if your treatment was reasonable and necessary or you were just going to the doctor to inflate the value of the claim.
If the average chiropractor treatment for lower back pain goes on for about one year, then you should treat about that time (if you injury requires that). IF your need to be seen longer than that, then you need to be referred to other kind of professional. If the chiropractor is not able to relieve the pain, then you need to move on to another specialist. Otherwise, the insurance adjuster will argue that you were over treating.
