When are you entitled to loss wages in a vehicle accident?
Vehicle accidents could be very hard to deal with, especially if you are missing work. We all know that dealing with insurance adjusters is not a very pleasant experience. Trying to document a claim can take a long; sometimes talking to an adjuster can take well over one hour. Are you entitled to payment for your time and the loss of wages?
The answer is it depends. You will never be compensated for wage loss for time you spend documenting a claim. If you lost 2 hours driving your car to get it fixed, then the insurance company will decline paying you.
But insurance carrier will pay your loss of wages in the event of a bodily injury. However there are restrictions and limitations on what the will be cover as a bodily injury loss of wages claim.
There must be causation between the injury and the loss of work. How is that? If you are taking to car to get fixed and you are injured, the loss of wages will go unpaid. However, if you are losing wages because you had to go to the doctor or your pain stops you from working, then now you will be entitled to compensation.
Remember the injury must be the direct and independent cause of the wage loss. Read more about wage loss.
